Tenants who prepay their rent need to have that deposit recorded as a credit to be applied to future rent rolls. This will ensure the deposit will be included as a credit on the Property Receivables report. To make a deposit that hasn't been applied to an invoice yet:
- Go to the Receivables page and without selecting any invoices click on Deposit
- Enter the information required to create the deposit: deposit account, date, property, owner, payee, and amount.
- You can click on Add deposit if you have more that one prepayment to record.
- When finished entering deposits click Post
After posting, the credit (CR) will show on the Receivables page ready to be applied to a future outstanding invoice. To apply to an invoice:
- Select both the credit and the transaction you are paying with it.
- Click Deposit
- Ensure the deposit equals 0 before clicking Post
