Creating a Budget

Here is how to Create a Property Budget on Propra

Written by Karyn Millar

Budgets are used primarily in condominium/strata accounting to ensure that monthly fees collected are in line with expected costs. Once a property's budget has been created and set up in Propra you can use it when running income statements for comparison.

Budgets can be made and saved for revenue and expense accounts for each fiscal year for a property. The fiscal year is set up on the Owner page under the Financials Tab. This can be edited if needed by clicking on the pencil icon next to Accounting details.

To set a Budget

  1. Go to the Task page and click Budget

  2. Select the property and owner for the budget

  3. Select the fiscal year

  4. Enter the monthly budgeted values. You can either update all months to the same figure by clicking on the pencil icon next to the GL account, or you can click into each month to adjust the budget to a different amount each month.

  5. Click Save

To verify input, you can click "export" to either print or view the information entered.

When reviewing your monthly financials, run the "Property Income Statement" and select "Compare budget" to view the variance between your actuals and estimates.
