Need to make changes to a security deposit on a lease that’s no longer active? Here's how to do it, and what to expect when working with terminated leases in Propra.

🚫 Why Can’t I Edit the Deposit from the Lease?

When a lease is terminated or inactive, the financials tab becomes locked for edits.

You’ll notice the "Manage Deposits" button is greyed out, meaning you won’t be able to make changes from the lease view.

But don’t worry — there’s still a way to update the deposit transaction.

✅ How to Edit the Deposit from the Chart of Accounts

  1. Go to Accounting > Accounts

  2. Look for the account named "Deposit Liability"

  3. Click into that account

  4. Use the search bar to locate the property or unit tied to the lease

  5. Find the deposit transaction you want to update

  6. Edit the transaction directly from here (you can adjust the amount, description, date, etc.)

💡 This method is useful for correcting amounts or making retroactive adjustments after a lease has ended.

*Keep in mind that this wont be reflected on the terminated leases financials tab, to update that follow the next steps below:

🔁 Need to Fully Reprocess the Deposit?

If you need to completely re-do the deposit transaction (for example, updating the source lease or workflow), follow these steps:

  1. Re-activate the lease

    • Go to the lease screen and reactivate it

  2. Make your changes

    • Head to the Financials tab and click Manage Deposits

  3. Terminate the lease again

    • Once updates are complete, you can safely re-terminate the lease
